The 2023 AHCA/NCAL Professional Development Workgroup designed an education program that addresses current and pressing operating and care challenges facing providers today. Learn about workforce issues, census rebuilding, reimbursement constraints, regulatory changes and much more from some of the best instructors in the industry. It is imperative that providers come to Denver and learn from experts and peers about the impact of these issues in our sector.
The comprehensive agenda covers all the topics you need to be successful in your community or organization. With an increased focus on workforce challenges, the program offers practical, implementable, real-world solutions to the challenges you face every day.
Carve out the best value by registering for the Premium Package. Included in the Premium Package is a welcome reception, two general sessions, two-day Expo Hall access with lunch, your choice of education sessions beginning with the Sunday Intensives, and, running through Wednesday afternoon, the Quality Award Ceremony, and networking events. The Premium Package provides post-convention access to recorded sessions as well as the opportunity for additional CEs. It also allows for the sharing of materials with your staff.
Note that the following convention education programs require a separate ticket to be added to your registration:
Administrators: Continuing education approval has been requested for administrators from the National Association of Boards of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB). All attendees seeking administrator CEs will need their NAB Registry ID to register for convention. The main convention programming begins at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 1, with the Intensive sessions and runs through 12:30 pm Wednesday, October 4. Adding a separate ticketed event (NCAL Day and/or the, Rehabilitation Therapy Program) to your registration will alter your CE count.
Nurses: In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. ANCC contact hours will be provided.

CE credits will be awarded only to those who have attended the session for the required time and who complete the quiz at the end of each session. Please note: Your required time is based on the total time in session and not your entry and exit scans. Exiting and entering session multiple times will deduct from your total time in session. If your total time in session does not meet the guidelines below, no credit will be offered.
60-minute session – must have accumulated 50 minutes of dwell time to earn credit. No planned breaks in session.
75-minute session – must have accumulated 65 minutes of dwell time to earn credit. No planned breaks in session.
90-minute session – must have accumulated 80 minutes of dwell time to earn credit. Allows for a planned 10-minute break in session.
120-minute session – must have accumulated 100 minutes of dwell time to earn credit. Allows for two planned 10-minute breaks in session.
180-minute session – must have accumulated 150 minutes of dwell time to earn credit. Allows for three planned 10-minute breaks in session.
Accumulated time is based on the number of times you scan in and out of a session. Leaving a session multiple times will decrease your accumulated time in session.
Education activities are designed for facility owners, corporate management, facility specialists, Directors of Nursing (DONs), nurses, administrators, rehab therapists or other health care professionals from nursing facilities, sub-acute/post-acute care, assisted living, and other long term care settings.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Discuss emerging trends and topics impacting the overall quality and value of your organization/facility and how to incorporate new quality improvement approaches within your system.
2. Identify evidenced-based strategic solutions to improve practice, performance, and/or resident outcomes.
3. Integrate strategies, procedures, resources, and/or guidelines presented into everyday delivery of quality care.
