MDS v1.18.11 has expanded to 58 pages primarily due to the addition of Standardized Patient Assessment Data Elements or SPADEs. Understanding the reason for this expansion and how CMS intends for SNF's to utilize these new data elements is critical. Through discussion and review, in this presentation the SPADEs will be reviewed to help SNFS make the connection between health inequities, health disparities, social determinants of health and how SNFs are now required to integrate these concepts into assessing and caring for their residents. Participants will be able to understand what elements in the revised MDS are considered SPADEs and how to utilize the information gathered from these elements to integrate care processes to identify and accommodate resident's needs with regard to these important concepts.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss the importance of the IMPACT Act.
Identify the SPADES that will be included with the revised MDS 3.0 v1.18.11.
Describe the connection between the IMPACT Act/SPADES and the SNF Quality Reporting Program.
Discuss how the SPADES are intended to engage the resident's quality experience.
