We provide quality care and services to our residents, but words alone do not support quality. According to the World Health Organization, quality of care is the degree to which health services for individuals increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes. Assisted living communities are admitting higher acuity residents than ever before. As a result, there is a critical need to improve quality and be able to prove it through the power of data. Quality improvement is a foundational framework used to systematically improve care. Improvement in quality seeks to reduce variations and standardize processes to achieve predictable results and improve resident outcomes. This session will review the importance of quality and data in telling your story, and how to engage your teams in organization-wide quality improvement efforts by following the core concepts of the Baldrige framework. Put simply, quality makes no sense without "U" and "I" and it takes everyone playing their part to accomplish efficiency, improve outcomes, and reduce costs.
