MDS 3.0 version 1.18.11 will become effective on 10/1/23 and includes many changes that will impact processes for data collection and increase workloads. Nurse leaders are likely to educate SNF staff on changes and participate in process development, as well as shoulder the responsibility to complete new items in the MDS. The sheer number of changes in the MDS 3.0 version 1.18.11 are daunting for nurse leaders, resulting in a significant new workload. The new MDS also sets into motion anticipated changes to five-star calculations and individual state Medicaid reimbursement system transitions. Attendees will leave this session with actionable steps to put into operation for successful adaptation to the MDS 3.0 version 1.18.11.
