Sadia Peal is a Registered Nurse who received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and is Board Certified in Long-Term Care Infection Prevention. She currently serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Manager at Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC), one of the nation’s largest single-site provider of eldercare services. Originally founded in 1910, CESLC serves older adults, in its independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing residences on its Rockville, Maryland campus and provides home care services throughout Montgomery County.
At CESLC, Sadia collaborates with other professionals (e.g., healthcare administrators, nursing directors, physicians, department directors, etc.) to develop and sustain an effective infection control program. In 2014 during the Ebola epidemic, she implemented an Ebola educational campaign and developed prevention and mitigations strategies for CESLC. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sadia’s responsibilities include launching infection prevention programs and initiating strategies to reduce infection risks. She continues to promote quality patient care and optimize occupational health outcomes in collaboration with local, county and state health agencies.
Prior to joining CESLC, Sadia served in a variety of nursing roles including: being a charge nurse at a regional acute care hospital, supervising nursing services at a life plan community, and providing intravenous therapies to home health care clients.
Sadia is originally from Liberia, West Africa. In addition to her professional career, she is a humanitarian. Sadia serves as a board member of Change Agent Network fostering education in Liberia and holds active leadership roles in other nonprofit organizations promoting education, health, and the welfare of underserved populations in Liberia.
