HR Director
Lewiston Transitional Care
Lewiston, ID, United States
My name is Heather Davis, I am the Human Resource and Admissions Director for Lewiston Transitional Care of Cascadia. I have been working in Human Resources for almost 10 years but became part of Cascadia in 2021. I grew up in a rural town in Northern Idaho, always knowing from a young age that I wanted to help people, it was not until later in life that I would find out how I was going to do that. I attended Lewis-Clark State College in the Fall of 2008, before transferring to Walla Walla Community College, where I completed my degree programs. I graduated with a degree in Medical Administrative Assisting and hold an associate degree in early-Childhood Education.
I began working in the medical field in 2012 as an assistant to Medical Records, it was then I discovered working with our geriatric population was something that I was passionate about, but I wanted more. I wanted to be able to be part of creating a wonderful environment for this population and I realized to do that, I needed to be able to help build good culture for the workforce. It's too often that those in the HR Profession are impersonable and shut off to the workforce, I wanted to change that view. My goal was to become an HR Professional that people wanted to go to, to confide in, to trust, and to be a true safe place for the company, and the workforce I served. I am a firm believer that people do not leave jobs, people leave people, I was determined more than ever when joining the Cascadia team, to ensure that people viewed me as a resource and not a punishment.
Since joining this team, I have been able to grow our staff engagement and community outreach programs to new heights. Most here refer to their co-workers as their family and in this building, we look out for our family. I believe that making myself available to the workforce and doing so free of judgement has made me a stronger HR Professional and helped to cultivate a better culture for our building. My next personal goal is to help others in the HR profession to become more personable and open to their own workforces. I plan on doing this through knowledge learned while completing my Senior Certified Professional Certificate through The Society for Human Resource Management.
